Futbol topları, yapılarına göre 2'ye ayrılır:
1- Dikişli Futbol Topları
Bu topların panelleri genellikle elle dikilerek birbirlerine tutturulmuştur. Günümüzde makine dikişli toplar da piyasaya sunulmuştur.
2. Yapıştırma Futbol Topları
Bu topların panelleri birbirlerine ve altındaki katmana yapıştırılarak üretilmişlerdir.
Futbol topları büyüklüklerine göre 3'e ayrılır:
1- 5 Numara Futbol Topları
Ölçüleri FIFA tarafından belirlenmiş, 12 yaşından büyüklerin oynayabilecekleri top büyüklüğüdür. Çevresi 68,5-69,5 cm. dir. Ağırlığı 420-445 gram arasındadır.
2- 4 Numara Futbol Topları
8-12 yaş aralığındaki sporcuların oynayabilecekleri top büyüklüğüdür. Çevresi 63,5-66 cm. dir. Ağırlığı 350-390 gram arasındadır.
3- 3 Numara Futbol Topları
8 yaşın altındaki sporcuların oynayabilecekleri top büyüklüğüdür. Çevresi 61-62 cm. dir. Ağırlığı 320-350 gram arasındadır.
Futbol topları kullanım amaçlarına göre 3'e ayrılır:
1- Dış Saha Futbol Topları
Bu topları televizyonda izlediğimiz maçlarda kullanılan toplar olarak nitelendirebiliriz. Genel özellikleri yukarıdaki gibidir ve 0,8 bar basınç oranına sahip olmalıdır.
2- Futsal Topları
